Mixon Cemetery
George County, Mississippi

 
Travel south on highway 57 out of Benndale, Mississippi. You will go 3.1 miles and on your left you will see Mixon Lake road. Take this left hand turn
and now go 1.4 miles where the road will "Y", you will take the left turn onto Dogwood Drive. You will now travel about .4 tenths of a mile and as you
round a curve to the right there will be a small grassy drive on your right. Take the right hand turn and the cemetery is about 50 yards in front of you at the
dead end of this drive. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence and all visible graves had headstones. I was told by a person who lives near the cemetery,
that at one time in recent years it was virtually unknown to anyone, but when it was discovered hidden in the thick brush, word got around about there being a
cemetery found there, and some people came and cleaned it up. No one in the vicinity of this cemetery seem to know who owns it.

Travel south on highway 57 out of Benndale, Mississippi. You will go 3.1 miles and on your left you will see Mixon Lake road. Take this left hand turn and now
go 1.4 miles where the road will "Y", you will take the right turn onto Parker cemetery road. Go .8 tenths of a mile to the dead end. Here you will be in the driveway
of a private home, the cemetery is located behind the house a short distance. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence, but was in need of a good cleaning.
I was able to find only four graves inside the fence and there was one the homeowner told me about that is located outside the fence. He wasn't sure why the grave
wasn't inside the fence, however you will see that it is the most recent burial, it had been 73 years since the last burial had taken place here.I could not confirm
ownership or who is responsible for upkeep of this cemetery.

Reeves/Smith Cemetery
George County, Mississippi

 
Travel south out of Benndale, Mississippi on highway 57. Go 3.3 miles and on your right will be Tony Smith road. Take this right hand turn and go .2 tenths of a mile,
where you will come to a "Y" in the road. The right turn at this "Y" is Reeves/Smith Cemetery road. Take this right turn and  now go another .2 tenths of a mile and
you will come to the cemetery at the dead end of this road. This is a family cemetery and they also provide the upkeep for it. There is a chain link fence and the
cemetery was in real nice condition.

Traveling south from Benndale, Mississippi on highway 57 south. You will go 3.0 miles where you will see the George Allen road on your right.
Take this road to the right and go .1 tenth of a mile and the Reeves/Carter cemetery will be on your right. The cemetery belongs to the Reeves & Carter
families and they provide the upkeep for it. They have installed a new chain link fence around the cemetery.

Slay Cemetery
George County, Mississippi

 
Leave Lucedale , Mississippi heading East on highway 198, you will go about 3.7 miles, where you will come to the intersection of the 198 east and highway
98 by-pass. Here you will go strait across the 98 by-pass, you will now be on Rocky Creek Road heading north. Stay on Rocky Creek road for 2.8 miles.
There will be an intersection with Henry Eubanks Road on your right. Take this right hand turn and now go .8 tenths of a mile, there you will see a metal
fence gate and behind it will be a small chain link fenced in area. This is the Slay cemetery, it is owned by members of the Slay Family and upkeep is done by them.

Travel west out of Lucedale, Mississippi on highway 198, you will come to an intersection with highway 98. Take a left onto highway 98 (going west), and you
will go a couple miles. Here you will see a small store on your right (Carolyn's Grocery), directly across the highway on your left (South) there will be a road.
This road is called Bexley Road South, take it and go .4 tenths of a mile and St. James Baptist Church and cemetery will be on your right. The cemetery belongs
to this church and they provide the upkeep. It is surrounded by a chain link fence and there were several unmarked graves in the cemetery.

Travel west out of Lucedale, Mississippi on highway 198, you will come to an intersection with highway 98. Take a left hand turn onto highway 98 (going west),

the homeowner that lives next door to the cemetery. The cemetery is a private family cemetery and they provide the upkeep for it. There is a chain link fence around it,
and there were several unmarked graves.

New Antioch Cemetery
George County, Mississippi

Travel west out of Lucedale , Mississippi on highway 198, you will come to the intersection with highway 98 by-pass. Turn left on the 98 by-pass heading west.
You will go 1.7 miles and there will be an intersection on your left with Merrill Road. Take this left hand turn onto Merrill road and go 1.9 miles. Here you will see
Moss Drive on your left, turn onto this road and go .3 tenths of a mile and this cemetery will be on your right. The cemetery is surrounded by a fence, and inside the
large fenced in area there are three smaller fenced in areas. There were no graves in two of these smaller fenced in areas that had recoverable information. One small
fenced in area had 8 marked graves in it. I will note those in this area. All other graves were located throughout the larger open area of the cemetery. This cemetery is
the property of New Antioch Baptist Church located in Merrill, Mississippi. The church and family members of those interred here provide the upkeep. There were
numerous unmarked graves in the cemetery.
