Byrd -- Helveston Cemetery
George County, Mississippi
Leaving Lucedale, Mississippi on highway 26 west you will cross over
the highway 63 by-pass intersection. Continue west for another 2.3
miles and
you will see Central/Basin Road on your left. Take this left hand turn
and now go south on it for 5.7 miles, and the Byrd-Helveston cemetery
will be
left hand side of the road. The cemetery is a family cemetery and they
provide the upkeep for it, also it is surrounded by a chain link fence.
There were a couple of unmarked graves in the cemetery. Information was
taken from all legible temporary grave markers and headstone
inscriptions.
The cemetery was walked by Jimmy
Trussell on the 11th of December 2007.
