LIST OF CONFEDERATE DEAD

At Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wis.

BLACK EARTH, Wis., Sept. 3d, 1866.

Eds. Mail: Believing it to be a duty incumbent upon every man to endeavor to ameliorate the sufferings of humanity, and to "mourn with those who morn, and weep with those who weep," I have taken the pleasurable yet sad duty of procuring a record of the names of Confeerate soldiers whose mortal remains rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wis. These were soldiers taken prisoners at Island No. 10, by the United States forces in the Spring of 1862. Trusting this may be of some benefit to bereaved families of your and the surrounding States from which they came, never to return, I subjoin their names, letter of company, No. of regiment, and date of death:
