was born April 13, 1838 in Al., and died January 31, 1914 in Perry
County, AL.. He married (1) MELISSA ANN (DRUSILLA) BROWN. She was born
1841 in Bibb Co., AL.. He married (2) EMILY ARABELLA BROWN June 17,
1860 in Bibb County, AL.. She was born May 20, 1836, and died February
1879. He married (3) NANCY ADALAINE PATTERSON March 10, 1884 in Perry
County, AL., daughter of JOHN PATTERSON and NANCY MOORE. She was born
April 01, 1852 in Chatom, N.C., and died March 09, 1935 in Sylacauga,
AL..
The Census for Perry County listed Abe James as follows: "James,
Absalom Harrison; Present Post Office Address Oakmulgee, Ala, b 4 April
1838 at Centerville in Bibb County, Ala; entered the service as Private
in March 1862 at Centerville, Ala, in Co ? 11 Ala Inft and continued
until wounded and discharged at Selma in June. Reenlisted as Private in
Oct 1863 at Centerville in Co G 6 Ala Cav and continued until paroled
at Marion, Ala in 1865."
Absolom and
Nancy are buried at Mount Olive Cemetery. From Centerville, AL,
go
south on highway 82 about 17 miles. Turn right on highway 183 and watch
for the Mount Olive Church sign. It is off the highway a short distance
to the right.
